Social Development Department Minister Sisisi Tolashe has pledged her aid and motivation to improving upon South African Social Security Company (SASSA) providers through an engagement while using the company's senior professionals in a strategic scheduling session in Cape Town.
Tolashe on Tuesday expressed her heartfelt congratulations to the various social grant beneficiaries, who excelled from the 2024 matric final exams.
On the 724 156 full-time learners who registered for that National Senior Certificate (NSC), 572 338 are social grant beneficiaries, symbolizing 81% from the registered pupils in the schooling sector.
These learners achieved a commendable pass rate of 86%.
"This indicates the financial commitment government is making from the lives of weak and vulnerable children is yielding a beneficial influence in breaking intergenerational poverty," Tolashe said.
Reflecting on current achievements, the Minister highlighted essential milestones and ongoing priorities. She dedicated to urgently addressing the issue of lasting leadership appointments as well as the lack of staff at most nearby offices.
